Creative 12: Write a diary entry by Gordy after Junior has asked him to become friends

Dear Diary,

I usually don’t write into a diary, but I think it is a good way to organize your thoughts. Today  Junior,  a boy from my school,  asked me if  I want to be his  friend. I directly said, that I was not gay, but he didn’t mean it that way. He wants me to be his casual friend. I was surprised. No one ever asked me something like this before, but I agreed. I mean, he is quite intelligent and seems to be nice and interested in school, just like me. I do not have any friends and this was never a problem for me, but I think it can have some benefits to have a friend. I am not forced to study alone and can actually really talk to someone except from the teacher. And to be honest, it would be quite nice to have a friend, who stands behind you and who does things with you. In school, I have always been alone and now this is my possibility to not be lonely.

Hopefully,  I don’t mess up this chance.

It was a friday,friday the 7th of october.
Friday, that means matchday..
This day was planned a big Match.
The Highschool against the INDIANS.

The match began with much energy and it was an exciting match. We had a full stand.
Everything was fine!
And another Important aspect to tell is about Junior called Junior , who is an Indian , who left the rez , to go to our highschool.
It means this match was against his old school and also against his old Friend Rowdy.
For junior it was clear, that he is going to lose the match,because his trainer told him to cover Rowdy all the time, the whole match.
Rowdy did a good match with his team and Junior seemed helpless, but then, something unexpected has happenend.
Rowdy was running with the ball and wanted to throw it into the basket. Rowdy jumped. And then, it happened something, nobody expected. For the first time , Junior jumped.He jumped higher than Rowdy. Shock moment. Nobody thougt this could happen and it seemed like Junior was shocked,too. So Junior took the ball,ran to the other side, he fainted and then he jumped and threw the basketball into the basket.
Nobody thougt this.Neither junior , nor his mother, who fell in unconsciousness.
At the end Juniors team won.
It was an amazing match and also Juniors trainer is shocked about what junior is able to do.

Dear diary,

yesterday a new boy called Junior has came to my school. What a crazy name but maybe this is a normal name in the place from which he comes?  Whatever… Anyway “Junior” looks very ugly and I don´t know… he looks so different! He doesn´t fit in this school! And so I said to him:”Did you know that Indians are living proof that niggers fuck buffalo?” To be honest I don´t know why I have said this before all others and after this racist joke I have felt a little bit bad. A few seconds after this dumb joke Junior has hit me suddenly.First I was very shocked but then I begin to understand that it wasn´t ok  to say this to Junior or Arnold and so I wasn´t angry that Junior has hit me. Now I think it was fair and I deserve it. And today I saw Junior again and I said “Hey” and asked him “Who was that on the bike?” because a man with a cool bike brought him to school. We speaked a little bit and I said to him that the bike has looked cool and after that I said that I will see him around. I don´t say that that we will be best friends, but maybe we can get along because I regret it that I maked a racist joke and nobody deserves something like this and who knows? Maybe Junior is a nice guy and very cool?

C: Hey, Mr. Dodge!                Mr. D: Hey Coach. How are you?        C:Fine, thanks. How are you?    Mr. D: Good!      C: I want to hera your opinion about Arnold and his personalities.     Mr. D: He is too much self-doubt.     C: Not more?       Mr. NO…..    C: I think he is also intelligent, a good drawer, a talent in basketball and a big fighter!      Mr. D: Maybe.   C: He must be more self-doubt in his game.  Mr. D: But not so much self-doubt in class. One tim he contradicted me. C:  OK, when you think so.   Mr.D: Yes. Bye and a nice day.   C: Bye

5 years later…

To begin with, I want to say that I moved out. I am living in a small apartment in Seattle now. I’m sharing the rent with Gordy. Just don’t get me wrong, we’re not together or anything, we’re just friends! I still see a lot of my old classmates. Roger and Penelope for example, who have married last year. And Rowdy comes to visit me quite often as well.

Overall, I can’t say I’m not happy but I definitely feel that I am missing something. Yes I’ve got a job now – I am a real cartoonist for children’s books now and I am also a blogger – and Gordy and I traveled to China and Australia but sometimes I feel lonely. I feel like I am missing someone. That’s awful. Knowing who is missing but not knowing who that person is at the same time. Some might say, I’m just sad that Penelope left me, but I’m over that! The only thing I do know is, that’s really like that girl in the coffeeshop and that she seems to like me, too, I am just too shy to ask her. Gordy wanted to ask for her number for me but I rejected his offer.

Only time can tell what is going to happen…

Dear Mrs. and Mr. Spirit,

I write this letter because of an incident that happened between your son Arnold Spirit Junior and me today in the math lesson. We were at the beginning of the lesson and I distributed some geometry text books. Suddenly Arnold got very angry and just smashed the book at me. This must sound terrible to you and I can imagine that it has to be a shock for parents to get that message about their son. But I want you to calm down. Junior never has been in any trouble and besides I think that neither you nor me would describe Junior as a boy with an aggression problem. I also don’t think that the reason of his acting was anger of the math lesson or of me. After class I picked up the book he threw and then it made sense to me. Arnold saw  how old our books are and it shows how poor we are. His family, the school, the rez: he is surrounded by poverty. As a teacher I experienced over years that every child in this rez realises this. So, please don’t be too angry with him because this is an experience he had to do one day. Although I wouldn’t punish your son, it is my duty to do that. As a consequence for Arnold’s behavior, he is suspended from school for one week.
